When it comes to sleep, an ordinary pillow can only support the head and neck, leaving a suspending gap between the neck and shoulders that exerts high pressure on the spine. Recognizing this problem, the design team at Hola, led by the renowned designer HOLA, embarked on a mission to create a pillow that would perfectly fit the contours of the head all the way to the thoracic spine.

The result is the Golden Angle Pillow, a groundbreaking innovation that prioritizes both form and function. Through extensive clinical research and collaboration with healthcare experts, HOLA and the HOLA Bedding Team identified the optimal sleeping position for the cervical spine—a horizontal back posture that prevents scoliosis and other physical symptoms.

Based on this research, the Golden Angle Pillow was meticulously crafted with a sloping design featuring a golden angle of 16 degrees. This unique angle ensures that the pillow provides ideal support to three crucial areas—the head/neck, the shoulders, and the upper thoracic vertebrae. Additionally, a groove design in the middle of the pillow allows sleepers to maintain the best position throughout the night.

The Golden Angle Pillow's exceptional comfort and support are made possible by its exclusive hydrophilic memory foam material. This innovative material absorbs moisture from the body, balances surrounding humidity, and maintains consistent softness at all temperatures. With its decompression and slow rebounding effect, the pillow perfectly conforms to the body's curves, providing unparalleled comfort and support to the head, neck, and thoracic spine.

Measuring 51.5cm x 66cm x 14/5cm±5%, the Golden Angle Pillow is designed to fit the head, neck, shoulders, and upper thoracic vertebrae with precision. Its wider width ensures optimal support and reduces pressure on the body during sleep, resulting in an unrivaled sleeping experience.

The Golden Angle Pillow project began in Taiwan in November 2019 and was completed in Taipei, Taiwan, in October 2020. It was launched in Taipei, Taiwan, in November 2020, marking a significant milestone in sleep innovation.

Recognizing the pressing need for a solution to the growing health problems caused by modern lifestyles, HOLA and the HOLA Bedding Team conducted extensive research in collaboration with Yang-Ming Healthcare. The data collected from nearly ten thousand consumers formed the basis for the design's height and angle, ensuring its suitability for a wide range of individuals.

The production of the Golden Angle Pillow posed significant challenges, particularly in achieving the golden angle of 16 degrees with minimal thicknesses of the hydrophilic memory foam. However, thanks to the tireless efforts of the production team, a breakthrough was achieved, allowing the pillow to be shaped into a mere 1cm thickness. This achievement has enabled people to relieve pressure and enjoy a restful sleep.

With its innovative design and focus on improving sleep quality and overall well-being, the Golden Angle Pillow has garnered recognition in the design community. It was awarded the prestigious Bronze A' Design Award in the Furniture Design category in 2022. This accolade acknowledges the design's outstanding creativity, technical prowess, and contribution to enhancing quality of life.
